Do you guys rely on extra filters before trusting a reversal setup, or is it mostly about screen time and confidence?

I’ve been tinkering with the idea of upgrading my old kitchen, but every time I look at the layout, I keep comparing it to my charts — messy structure, unclear zones, and too many “fake breakouts,” if you know what I mean. Lately I’ve been working on combining reversal patterns with risk-management rules and basic support/resistance mapping, yet it still feels like I’m missing something. Do you guys rely on extra filters before trusting a reversal setup, or is it mostly about screen time and confidence?

Funny comparison with the kitchen — I get it more than I’d like to admit. When my setups start looking like a cluttered drawer, I usually go back to the basics: what’s the context, is the momentum fading, and is the level I’m watching actually respected or just a coincidence. I once blew a decent trade because I trusted a clean double-bottom without noticing that momentum had already been flattening for hours. After that, I started mixing reversal cues with the kind of momentum checks described here: https://forextester.com/blog/opening-range-breakout-trading-strategies/

That link helped me understand that even a textbook head-and-shoulders means nothing if the push into the neckline is unusually strong — you need the “cooling off” phase. What I do now is wait for one extra confirmation: either a retest of the zone or a shift in candle behavior. It slows down entries, but I don’t mind missing trades if the ones I take actually make sense.

I’m not adding much except to say the mix of structure plus a quick peek at how price behaves before and after a reversal signal really does help. I’ve noticed that when support/resistance levels line up with even a slight loss of steam, the setup feels less like wishful thinking and more like something you can actually plan around.
