I’ve been browsing a few law student forums lately, and it’s interesting to see what students struggle with most when tackling assignments. A lot of the discussions focus on structuring arguments properly, applying case law clearly, and making sure the analysis actually answers the question.

IRAC comes up all the time! Some students feel confident using it, while others understand the theory but have trouble putting it into practice. Many also find it tricky to include precedent smoothly without just listing cases. Overall, clarity and logical flow seem to be the biggest challenges in writing a strong legal analysis.

Improvement over time is another common theme. Some students swear by detailed feedback from tutors, while others find that practicing more essays and reviewing model answers helps them improve faster. I personally practiced using sample law essays available online
, and it really helped me get a better sense of how to structure arguments effectively.

I’m curious about everyone else’s experience. When it comes to improving your law assignments, what helped you most – structured feedback or repeated practice?
