If you have spent any time digging through the launch database for College Football 27, you have probably noticed a major omission on EA Sports’ media site. Unlike speed or overall ratings, EA never published a standalone “Top 100 Smartest Players” list to isolate the Awareness (AWR) attribute.

Instead, awareness functions as a foundational component built directly into the game’s core player ratings database. Because awareness heavily influences how effectively high-IQ positions—like Quarterbacks, Centers, and Linebackers—read plays, avoid blitzes, and adjust coverages, the smartest players are highlighted within the game’s official positional breakdowns.

High-Awareness Standouts in College Football 27
While a dedicated list filtering only the AWR stat across all 11,000+ players does not exist, EA Sports’ launch database highlights these elite, high-IQ anchors by position:

Elite Signal Callers: Quarterbacks like cover athlete Dante Moore (95 OVR, Oregon) and Julian Sayin (94 OVR, Ohio State) carry some of the highest awareness baselines at their position to dictate pre-snap adjustments and process defensive shells.

The Trenches: Interior offensive linemen dictate a team’s blocking logic. Top-tier centers like Kade Pieper (95 OVR, Iowa), Iapani Laloulu (93 OVR, Oregon), and Brandon Best (83 OVR, Center) are equipped with 90+ Awareness marks to properly anchor blitz pickups.

Defensive Generals: Play-recognition anchors such as defensive back Leonard Moore (97 OVR, Notre Dame), safety KJ Bolden (95 OVR, Georgia), and safety Bray Hubbard (94 OVR, Alabama) feature premium play-recognition and awareness stats to counter complex offensive audibles.

How to View the Exact AWR Ratings in Game
If you want to bypass the partial marketing reveals and look at the raw numbers yourself, you don’t need an official web article anyway. You can easily sort and view every single player in the game strictly by their AWR attribute using the built-in filters.

Just follow these steps inside the game menus:

Navigate to the Roster tab from the Main Menu or within your active Dynasty Mode hub.

Select View Rosters and filter by “All” players rather than a specific team.

Scroll horizontally past Overall (OVR), Speed (SPD), and Strength (STR) to locate the AWR column.

Click the AWR header button to sort the entire database in descending order.

This completely bypasses team restrictions and showcases the top 100 highest-IQ players across the entire country right at the top of your screen. It is an incredibly useful trick if you are hunting for highly intelligent transfer portal targets or building a custom powerhouse in Dynasty.
