Phantom Targets is less about finding the fastest way to destroy a Wasp and more about deciding when the encounter is worth your ammunition, position, and extraction route. The event remains active until September 6, and its rewards can support both collection goals and future raids. Players building around ARC Raiders BluePrints should treat each Wasp as a controlled operation rather than a routine target.

Choose a Loadout That Handles the Fight After the Fight

A Wasp encounter creates noise, movement, and a predictable reason for other Raiders to investigate. That makes post-engagement survival more important than squeezing out the highest possible damage number.

For most solo players, a medium range primary weapon paired with a close range secondary offers the most practical coverage. The primary lets you work from cover and respond when the target shifts direction. The secondary protects you when the fight collapses into a short distance exchange.

A double damage focused setup may clear the target faster, but it leaves fewer answers when another player arrives. The balanced setup is the stronger choice for repeated farming because it preserves flexibility across several encounter types.

Build Around Escape Routes, Not Just Damage

Before firing, identify two ways to leave the area. One route should lead toward hard cover, while the other should create distance or break line of sight. If the terrain offers only one practical exit, move before starting the engagement.

Defensive equipment is often overlooked because it does not improve the damage screen. Its real value appears when you need warning, time, or a safe turn around a corner. This is especially useful for solo players carrying valuable event progress.

Place defensive equipment where an approaching Raider is least likely to be visible.
Reload before the Wasp reaches low health so the kill does not trap you in a vulnerable animation.
Keep enough ammunition for a player encounter instead of spending every round on the event target.
Leave immediately when your objective is complete and your backpack contains high value materials.

The Quiet Value of Defensive Equipment

Many players ignore warning and area control tools during early progression because direct damage feels more rewarding. Their value rises sharply during the middle and late stages, when a failed extraction costs refined resources, event items, and time needed for the next planned raid.

This approach suits cautious solo players, small groups, and anyone farming near contested activity. It is less important when running a coordinated squad with reliable communication, but it remains useful when the team is split across buildings or sightlines.

Medium Range Versus Close Range

The two main approaches serve different goals. Close range weapons can end a Wasp quickly when the target is trapped in a narrow space, but they demand more exposure. Medium range weapons take a little longer and provide better control over movement and retreat.

Build Best Use Main Cost Best Stage
Close range Fast indoor pressure High exposure Early progression
Medium range Safe event farming Slower finish Middle progression
Balanced pair Mixed encounters More planning Late progression

For consistent Phantom Targets runs, the balanced pair is more suitable. It gives up a small amount of speed in exchange for better control when the area becomes crowded.

Measure Ammunition as a Resource

Test weapons across five Wasps and record both the rounds used and the ammunition left afterward. A weapon that saves a few seconds but consumes nearly a full magazine may reduce your ability to survive the next encounter.

When comparing two options, favor the one that leaves enough ammunition for a player confrontation and a safe retreat. This produces better long term value than judging damage in isolation.

Know When the Reward Is Enough

Phantom Targets offers the Anomalia Outfit, Finger Guns Wave, Trashpile Bag, and Raider Tokens. Once the needed progress is secured, the next Wasp should be judged against the value already in your backpack.

If the event objective is complete, your healing supplies are low, or nearby movement suggests competition, extraction is the efficient decision. Players seeking more planning support can review ARC Raiders Items before the next run, then select equipment that protects both the target fight and the journey home.
