Many modern applications rely on weather alerts to trigger notifications or automated actions, but I’m curious how dependable they really are in practice. Have you found alert systems consistent enough for production use, or do you treat them as helpful rather than critical? Were there situations where alerts arrived too late or didn’t match actual conditions?

False positives turned out to be our biggest headache when we first automated our notification pipeline. The system would trigger heavy-weather warnings for minor localized drizzles, causing user fatigue and unnecessary app alerts. We eventually had to tweak our logic to require three consecutive data points before firing an action. When setting up environmental alerts, referencing structured feeds like https://billing.meteoprog.com/air-quality-api helped us calibrate realistic threshold levels. If you are going live, make sure you let users manually snooze automated triggers.
