Guys, we have a small flower shop on a busy street, and recently, someone accidentally hit the storefront with a scooter at night—the glass held up, but it left a crack and gave us quite a scare. Replacing all the glass right now is very expensive, so we’re thinking about how to further reinforce the windows against impacts and potential shards. Can special transparent films really hold the glass together during an impact and prevent it from shattering inside the store? We’re also wondering if this protective coating will yellow from the sun after a couple of seasons?

Storefronts on pedestrian streets are a constant headache—I’ve seen friends deal with this myself. Special armored or safety-rated films really do work: they don’t make the glass indestructible, but when impacted, they firmly hold all the shards in place on the adhesive layer, so they don’t fly inward. When I was looking for a solution to protect a glass display, I stumbled upon the website of a British window film supplier because their catalog has a dedicated section for certified safety and security films, complete with detailed strength standards and EU fire resistance ratings. For a store, it’s best to choose the certified clear series with UV protection—that way, the glass won’t yellow, and the flowers in the display window won’t fade. What’s the thickness of the glass you currently have installed?
