Forza Horizon’s latest trip to Japan brought some of the most incredible JDM legends we’ve ever seen in the franchise. But if you are like me, there is one specific car you’ve been losing your mind trying to get your hands on: the 2005 Mitsubishi #1 Sierra Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution Time Attack.
This absolute weapon of an Evo isn’t something you can just buy from the Horizon Autoshow, and if you try to simply drive straight to its barn location early in the game, you’ll find the doors firmly shut. In Forza Horizon 6, Barn Finds are tied strictly to your campaign progression.
If you want to add this legendary time attack monster to your garage, here is the exact, step-by-step method to unlock it.
Step 1: Trigger the Rumor (Unlock the Purple Stamp)
You can’t just stumble upon this barn by accident. The game won’t let you interact with it until you officially receive the “Barn Find Rumor” notification on your map.
To trigger the rumor for the Sierra Sierra Evo, you need to progress through your “Discover Japan” Collector’s Journal campaign status until you earn the Purple Stamp.
If you want to speed up the process and get that stamp as quickly as possible, focus on doing these activities:
Smash Regional Mascots: Knocking these out gives you quick chunks of progression.
Knock Out Yellow Story Missions: These yield massive campaign experience.
Grind Touge and Road Races: Classic Horizon racing that keeps the XP flowing.
Buy Player Houses: Snagging real estate boosts your overall status.
Step 2: Hunt Down the Barn Location in Shimanoyama
Once the radio crackles to life and the Purple Stamp rumor pops up, it’s time to head out. Grab an off-roader or a rally build because you’re going to need to leave the asphalt behind.
The Exact Route
Travel to the Shimanoyama region and look for the historic town of Narai-juku on the northern side of the regional map area.
Locate the off-road dirt trail running just above (north of) the town and start driving east.
Keep your eyes peeled on the right side of the trail. There is a hidden, subtle exit path branching off to the right.
Follow this branching right path all the way to its secluded dead end.
Once you hit the end of the trail, the cutscene will trigger, and the battered, legendary Evo will officially be yours.
Step 3: Wait Out (or Bypass) the Restoration
Like every Barn Find, the car isn’t race-ready right out of the shed. It needs some serious love from the Horizon garage team, meaning it goes into a restoration queue. You have two choices here:
The Patient (Free) Method: Just keep playing the game. Go tackle some more touge runs, complete championships, or cruise around Japan. Over time, the garage will notify you that the restoration is complete, costing you zero credits.
The Fast Method: If you absolutely cannot wait to hit the track, you can pay a hefty chunk of in-game credits to instantly bypass the timer. Honestly? Save your credits for upgrading the car later and just let the timer tick down naturally.
Keep in Mind: Barn Find vehicles in Horizon 6 are permanently linked to your profile. This means you cannot sell the Sierra Sierra Evo on the Auction House, and you cannot delete it. Once it’s in your garage, it’s a permanent part of your collection!
