Is building a personal MP3 library still worth it or just outdated?

People act like building a local music library is outdated but it still makes more sense than renting access every month. Am I wrong or does anyone else still actually think this way?

Not wrong at all. Streaming is convenient but you own nothing. Prices go up, catalogues change, platforms shut down. A local library is just more stable long term

The ownership argument holds up. Streaming is renting and the terms can change at any point. Catalogues lose tracks, prices increase, platforms shift direction. A local library has none of those variables. The barrier is lower than people assume. Something like Tubidy handles the download side cleanly, no account, no install, search covers most things. A few hours builds a solid base and from there it is just maintenance. Files work on any device, any player, for as long as you keep them. Local libraries being outdated is something people say when they have forgotten they are allowed to own things
